Match report
After the euphoria of last week's 6-1 victory, a makeshift AFC Wimbledon team crashed 4-0 at home to Cardiff City Ladies.
The Dons could have been behind after 20 seconds when Preen was clean through but she shot straight at Lou Cooper, but the Dons keeper was beaten twice by low volleys from Harries in the 3rd and 6th minutes to put the visitors in control. Cooper saved well from visiting captain Cooper and Harries hit the post before the third goal in the 42nd minute, Preen luckily avoiding an offside trap to slide the ball home.
The Dons created a few half chances either side of half-time but were unable to stretch Nokes in the visiting goal. Injuries to Julie Bygrave and Lauren Nuttall after both substitutions had been made meant the home side had to play the last 25 minutes with only 9 players, but Cardiff were reluctant to exploit their numerical advantage in the heat, although Fishlock completed the scoring in the 82nd minute with a header from a Harries cross. Harries had the ball in the net late on but the goal was disallowed for offside. |
