Partnership is extended for a second year
AFC Wimbledon and Wimbledon Brewery are delighted to announce the renewal of their Ale partnership.
Wimbledon Brewery brews the Club’s flagship “Plough Lane Ale” and is a proud sponsor of the club. This is the second year of its sponsorship of AFC Wimbledon and the club is pleased to continue this excellent relationship.
In addition to Plough Lane Ale, supporters will be able to enjoy one of Wimbledon Brewery’s other ales at every home game.
To celebrate the renewed sponsorship, the club invited brewery founder Mark Gordon to last week’s game against Shrewsbury Town. Supporters were able to sample Wimbledon Brewery’s recently launched Copper Leaf Autumn Ale and Mark met Neal Ardley pre-match.
Mark Gordon said: “For as long as there have been football clubs and breweries, they have supported each other. We are proud to continue this long standing tradition and share in the remarkable story of AFC Wimbledon. We look forward to a long and fruitful association with the club.”
There must be something that says you can fly in the face of convention and successfully start a business or a football club that carries the name ‘Wimbledon’ - the most precious name in the world. Ivor Heller, Commercial Director at AFC Wimbledon, said: “When I first met Mark Gordon he mentioned to me that he had an idea to bring back the Wimbledon Brewery. I vividly remember thinking, ‘well nice idea, but starting a brewery from nothing must be similar to starting a football club from nothing’.
“Well done to Mark and the team of dedicated local people that make Wimbledon Brewery such a wonderful success. We are delighted to be a part of it and it’s made even more special by the fact that we are Wimbledon Brewery’s only sponsorship. It is therefore precious for both of us.”
