Jayden signs pro deal

28 March 2017

Young striker signs on the dotted line

Jayden Antwi’s progress through the AFC Wimbledon ranks has been rewarded with a professional contract.

The 18-year-old, who joined the club six years ago, signed a pro deal before tonight’s first-team game against Rochdale and he is pictured alongside Neal Ardley after putting pen to paper.

It caps another fine season of progress for Jayden, who helped our Under-18s into the last-16 of the FA Youth Cup for a second successive season, scoring plenty of goals along the way.

Academy Manager Jeremy Sauer said: “Jayden has regularly played for the Under-21s too this season and more than held his own at this level. If he is scoring goals for the Under-21s this time next season - and these are the manager's words  - first-team appearances may be possible. Physically, Jayden would not have a problem with that. He is such a talented, willing lad, and it does not matter how old they are as he will be putting them under pressure.

“He has always had a natural instinct for scoring goals. Sometimes that has caused us to talk to him about decisions he makes in the game, but we never wanted to take it away from him. When he gets the ball, his first thought is, ‘can I get a shot off?’ and ‘can I score goals?’ You never want to take that away from Jayden. No matter what level Jayden is playing at, he will score goals.”

All at AFC Wimbledon congratulate Jayden on signing professional forms and we wish him every success in the future.

Watch out tomorrow on our official channels for an in-depth interview with Jayden and Jeremy.
