Young Dons keeper gains international honours

AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Joe Bursik kept a clean sheet on his debut for England Under-17s yesterday.

Dons academy product Joe, who committed his future to the club earlier this year, helped England to qualification for the UEFA European U17 Championship finals with a 4-0 win against Slovenia.

The game was played in Bosnia and the Three Lions round off their qualifying campaign against the host nation on Tuesday with a point enough to top group seven.

All at AFC Wimbledon congratulate Joe, who joined us at the age of nine, on his achievements with England.

England’s team, virtually made up of players from top-flight clubs, was as follows: Joe Bursik (AFC Wimbledon), Timothy Eyoma (Tottenham Hotspur), Lewis Gibson (Newcastle United), George McEachran (Chelsea), Marc Guehi, Jonathan Panzo (Chelsea), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Nya Kirby (Crystal Palace), Rhian Brewster (Liverpool), Jadon Sancho (Manchester City), Daniel Loader (Reading). Substitutes: Tashon Oakley-Booth (Tottenham Hotspur) for Brewster, Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) for Foden, Morgan Gibbs-White (Wolverhampton Wanderers) for McEachran.
