Popular centre-back in squad for Premier League Cup

Alan Reeves’ development squad make the short trip to Motspur Park tonight (7pm kick-off) to face group leaders Fulham in the under-23 Premier League Cup.

Centre-back Will Nightingale (pic) is set for some game time for the Dons, as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury.

AFC Wimbledon have only played twice in Group F so far. They qualified for the group stages with an impressive 5-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at the Cherry Red Records Stadium back in August of last year.

In their opening group game the Dons were involved in a thrilling fightback as they eventually drew 3-3 away to Charlton Athletic in October. Wimbledon lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough in their home fixture, held at Merstham FC, last December.

Fulham have completed the double over Middlesbrough, winning 3-1 at home last September and 2-1 away last month. The Cottagers lost 3-1 to Charlton before Christmas in the only other game they’ve played in the competition so far this season, but lead the way on goal difference from Middlesbrough.

The Dons will be looking to add to their solitary point at the bottom of the group, with the top two qualifying for the knockout stages from each of the eight groups.

Alan’s squad are in great form in the Central League this season – clear leaders of the South East division. They’re currently second, on goal difference to Barnet, in Group A of the Central League Cup competition.

Entry prices at Fulham’s training ground are £3 for adults and £1 for pensioners, under-16s and students with their card.
