THE PROGRAMME

AFC Wimbledon Football and Education programme offers potential recruits the opportunity to continue their educational learning while participating in a fully comprehensive training and playing programme.

Students will be able to gain a BTEC Level Diploma qualification in sports development, coaching, and fitness as part of the academy. As well as this, we teach the theoretical side of fitness by educating students on physiology, sociology and the cultural side of football. Studies take place utilising state-of-the-art facilities at Southfields Academy, based in Wandsworth.

On the pitch, students are given the opportunity to be taught by UEFA qualified coaches to help develop their football skills, while competing in an U-19 league to help them understand real game experiences.

In many ways it mirrors the Academy apprenticeship and has proven to be a successful vehicle to provide players with an excellent grounding in sports and football.
