Matthew said: “I am extremely proud and honoured to have been given this opportunity to join the Dons Trust Board. Having been a childhood fan, I can’t wait to be a part of AFC Wimbledon and help in any way I can to continue the club’s success.’

A talented all-rounder, Matthew (pictured far left above) became a crowd favourite at Surrey for his performances in limited overs matches, particularly playing a crucial part in the 2011 40-over trophy victory against Somerset.

There was even a social media campaign by Surrey fans to keep him at The Oval before he departed for Northamptonshire.

Matthew’s first experience of watching Wimbledon was exactly 20 years ago today at Selhurst Park when David Beckham famously scored from the halfway line.
