Last season's top scorer back among the goals
Lyle Taylor ended seven games without a goal in fine style against Shrewsbury on Saturday and he said it was “perfect” for him to play as part of a 4-3-3 formation.

Taylor, who was deployed alongside Dominic Poleon and Tom Elliott up front, said that the system requires a lot of hard work for it to be effective.
“It’s different to last year because it’s a 4-3-3, rather than a 3-4-3,” said Taylor. “I really enjoyed it and it is almost perfect for me. First and foremost, it is an absolute shift out there. You have to be prepared to put the yards in for the team. If you put the yards in for the team you get your rewards. Dominic has been working his guts off for the team, but today it was my turn to score. I just want to do my best for the team, regardless of who scores. Unfortunately, we’ve not scored enough goals to win the game, but we will try to keep creating chances and be a little bit flamboyant around the box.
“I felt that our three central midfielders in there were very good. They allowed me, Dom and Tom to be a little more attacking. Obviously, we filled in and did our defensive work and everybody gets praise for the work that they did. It was just a little bit disappointing that we didn’t win the game. In the first-half I thought when we had the ball we were decent and when they had the ball our team shape was brilliant. Ultimately, we paid the price for 10 minutes after the break. It’s another point though and we’ve only lost once in six games now.”
The Dons round off September with a visit to Coventry on Wednesday night and with seven games coming up during October, Taylor is ready to give his all for the cause.
“It’s going to tell us a little bit more about ourselves, more than anything else,” added Taylor. “To play Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Sunday, is not going to be easy at all – we know that. We have to prepare ourselves right in training and be ready for Wednesday. I’ve played against Coventry plenty of times, but I’ve not played at the Ricoh Arena. We will have had a couple of days of training by then and we will get ourselves right for it.”
