Extended highlights on Dons Player

Neil Cox was full of praise for Tyrone Barnett’s overall contribution to the team after he added another goal in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat against Brighton last night.

.Dons PlayerPost-match reaction from Neil, along with 10 minutes of highlights from the 2-1 loss, are now available on

Speaking during his post-match interview, Neil said: “If you look at Tyrone’s work-rate from the first minute to the last, it was absolutely unbelievable. Tyrone could have had a couple more, but if he keeps getting in those positions and getting opportunities, he will score goals for us.”

On Wimbledon’s elimination from the competition, Neil added: “We are a little bit disappointed because we wanted to keep the run going. We are disappointed that we conceded twice and we will have to work hard on that to make sure we are ready for Saturday’s game.

“In the first-half we did not play at the right tempo and they dominated a bit. We let them settle on the ball, but in the second-half we played at the tempo we wanted to play at, we played longer and got better balls forward. We gave it a really good go and played like we can do. We were on the front foot and put them under pressure.

“The players had come off a hard game on Sunday and some of the younger boys needed a chance to play. Alfie Egan and Tom Beere both got another chance in the Trophy. We are learning about the young lads and what they can do. It was good for them to play under the floodlights against a good Brighton side.”
