Trophy treat at Southfields

9 August 2016

Bonus for children and fans at community event

There was an extra special treat for children attending one of our summer holiday courses as they met AFC Wimbledon first-teamers and got photographs taken with the League 2 Play-Off trophy.

An event run by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation at Southfields Academy was attended by Barry Fuller, George Francomb, Andy Barcham and Jake Reeves, ahead of the new season.

They signed autographs for fans and children, before posing for photographs with the trophy won by the club in May.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation Sports Development Manager Joe Roberts said: “The day was a real hit with our holiday course participants and the fans who popped down to Southfields Academy in the afternoon.

“It caused a real buzz having the first-team players present and with the League 2 Play-off trophy on show the excitement levels rose quite a fair bit!

“It's important that we can provide such positive experiences for our community and especially the young people that we deliver to as the interest in the club and the Foundation only increases.”
