A must-win bet for Mumford

Marcus challenges 'Woody' to football bet

Marcus Mumford has put his allegiance to AFC Wimbledon on the line by challenging rival band member Chris Wood to a bet for our opening day match against Plymouth.

Marcus, who has made a name for himself as part of world-famous band Mumford & Sons, is hoping that his beloved Dons will get the better of Plymouth on 8 August and he has added spice to the occasion by having a bet with Bastille drummer ‘Woody’, who follows The Green Army.

Both Mumford & Sons and Bastille are playing at the Leeds and Reading festivals on the last weekend of August and if the Dons win then our badge will appear in front of thousands at those concerts.

Marcus said: “Whoever loses has to have the other team’s flag on their drum kit at Reading and Leeds. Come on you Dons!”

Of course, Marcus (pictured above) did the Dons a great turn just two days before our play-off victory at Manchester in 2011 when Mumford & Sons played at the Wimbledon Theatre with funds raised donated to the club.
