Dons manager on next season and the fixture list
Neal Ardley believes next season will be unpredictable in League 2 and it is hard to assess the teams AFC Wimbledon are scheduled to face at the start of 2013/14.
The Dons start with a trip to Torquay on Saturday, 3 August, and that will bring back memories of AFC Wimbledon’s exciting 3-2 win at Plainmoor on New Year’s Day, a result that started a revival for Neal Ardley’s men.
However, it is likely to be a far different Torquay that Wimbledon will meet this time around and Neal said: “It could be tough as Alan Knill will have had time to get in there and shape his team. It is a nice time of year to be going there rather than in the middle of winter, but teams that were near the bottom last season could be challenging for the play-offs next season.
“It was a good result for us at Torquay last season, but I think the January transfer window as a whole last season was the turning point. It is hard to know whether we have a tough start or not next season. Apart from one or two clubs with high budgets, it is going to be hard to predict the teams that will be strong next season. We just have to worry about getting ourselves right and try and hit the ground running.”
