“I thought that going forward we looked very good and we were a threat all night,” said Neal. “If we were a bit gung-ho then I will take the rap for that. I am not going to criticise the players for it. We wanted to have a good go at it in the second-half and we pushed players forward to try and win the game. Within five minutes of the second-half we had two one-on-ones and what I thought was a stonewall penalty. If we had taken one of those chances and their player had been sent off then it could have been different.

“But within five minutes we had committed suicide and conceded two goals. After that we showed pride though. We have to take a lot of positives from coming to a club like Brentford and playing like we did tonight.”
