Fuller fired up for Rochdale

Vice-captain's message ahead of tough test

Vice-captain Barry Fuller says that the Dons must produce a high-tempo performance to stand a chance of upsetting promotion-chasers Rochdale tomorrow.

AFC Wimbledon earned their best away result of the season in November when they came from behind to beat Keith Hill’s side at Spotlands Stadium, but the tough-tackling defender says that similar desire and determination must be on display once again tomorrow.

“We know that we will have to put a shift in because Rochdale are near the top of the table,” said the right-back. “If we can start with a high-tempo both on and off the ball then we can make it difficult for them. Hopefully, we can get a result and then start pushing up the table again.

“We went 1-0 down when we played Rochdale previously, but we showed character, especially because the floodlights went off when we were getting on top. We showed the sort of side that we can be as we all put a shift in. We have managed to grind out results recently, apart from the Oxford game, and we may need to do that again.”

The experienced defender says that Wimbledon’s players have worked hard all week in training to put their setback at the Kassam Stadium behind them.

“The atmosphere is always great within the squad and the boys are buzzing,” Fuller added. “Of course, we are disappointed when we lose a game, but we have to put it behind us. We were disappointed with the manner of the goals conceded at Oxford, but we can’t dwell on that now. We’ve worked hard to prepare for this game since Monday and we want to get three points on the board.”
