Osborne has big ambition

Dons Player interview with defender

Karleigh Osborne has been hugely impressed by the set-up at AFC Wimbledon – and he believes joining the Dons on loan offers him a great opportunity to reignite his career.

Osborne told Dons Player that he’s had no problems settling back into life in London and the on-Bristol City defender is determined to get his career back on track.

The experienced centre-back (pictured second from right above) was speaking at the launch of a new venue at Southfields Academy for school holiday courses run by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation.

“I got injured at the start of last season and that cost me a place in the team,” said Osborne. “Bristol did unbelievably well and I loved every minute of my time there. The manager was great because he kept me involved even though I was not playing. I was still happy there, but now I want to play games here and prove that I am still a capable player. I want to go back up the leagues if I can.

“I am originally from London so it’s been great to be back home with family and friends. I feel settled now and ready to go for the new season. It’s a great philosophy here and the staff are brilliant with the fitness training and the food that is put on. It is way ahead of League 2 and it is going in the right direction that we want to be heading in, which is up the leagues.”

The full interview with Karleigh Osborne, along with interviews with Ryan Sweeney and Neil Cox, feature on Dons Player.

Following last night’s 1-1 draw against Kingstonian, AFC Wimbledon will field a completely different side against Cheltenham tomorrow with Osborne among the experienced players involved.

Neil Cox said: “The boys who have not played tonight (against K’s) will get 90 minutes. It is about fitness, but it will be a difficult game based on the game we played against them at the end of last season. With so many games coming up at the start of the season we need everybody to be fit and ready. The manager will pick the players who play best in training and games.”
