Middlesbrough's Charlie Wyke signs for initial month

We can confirm that Neal Ardley has bolstered his attacking options by signing Middlesbrough striker Charlie Wyke on loan for a month.

The 21-year-old, who came through the ranks at his hometown club, gained League 1 experience last season during a six-month loan spell with Hartlepool United, and he’s a player that Wimbledon have kept tabs on for some time.

Neal Ardley said: “We looked at Charlie last season and we have monitored him since then. He comes highly recommended from contacts that we’ve got in the north and we’ve watched Charlie play this season for the Under-21s.

“Middlesbrough have been very good with us in this deal because it requires hardly any financial outlay. Charlie is an out-and-out striker and we can certainly have a look at him during January.”

Charlie (pictured above) is eligible to go straight into the Wimbledon squad for tomorrow’s League 2 match at Wycombe Wanderers.
