Midfielder goes back to Scunthorpe

We can confirm that Michael Collins has today been recalled by Scunthorpe United and his loan spell with the Dons has ended with immediate effect.

Collins (pictured) is required to reinforce Scunthorpe’s promotion bid after manager Russ Wilcox was hit by injuries in the midfield area.

The 27-year-old started all nine League 2 games since joining the Dons on loan in February and AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley was pleased with his contribution.

“Michael did a great job for us and it was a pleasure working with him,” said Neal. “He got stronger the more games that he had here and I hope he plays matches at Scunthorpe. We wish him all the best. It’s an opportunity for other players to prove their worth now.”

Collins could go straight into contention for Scunthorpe’s match at Torquay United this Saturday.
