Focus on Cambridge United as part of FL campaign
We’re building up to the new season by previewing all of Wimbledon’s League 2 opponents as part of the Football League’s “Wall of Colour” campaign.
AFC Wimbledon will be encouraging fans to wear their scarves, shirts, rosettes, hats, and anything else in blue and yellow to help the Dons to victory against Shrewsbury. We are also planning to run an event on Saturday, 9 August, to fit in with the Football League’s aim to celebrate the big kick-off at clubs all around the country.
The fifth club to feature in our countdown is Cambridge United as we work through Wimbledon’s fixture list in reverse order.

With promising new signings already made, including the addition of former Dons loanee Kwesi Appiah (pictured) on loan from Crystal Palace, and the return of Robbie Simpson, Cambridge should not be short of firepower. They also possess a passionate home support and as a club with a rich Football League pedigree in the past, they are unlikely to be strugglers next season. Though manager Richard Money just failed to topple his old club Luton Town in the Conference title race, he guided Cambridge to play-off glory with a 2-1 win against Gateshead United. That ended a nine-year exile from the Football League for Cambridge.
