Danny Hylton joins the Dons

27 January 2014

Striker loaned to Wimbledon for rest of season

Neal Ardley has today made another move in the January transfer window by bringing in striker Danny Hylton on loan from Rotherham United.

Danny (pictured) joins the Dons until the end of this season and his arrival ends Neal Ardley’s long chase for his signature.

Having worked hard to bolster his striking options, Neal believes that signing the former Aldershot Town striker is exactly the type of player his squad needs at the current time.

At the age of 24, Danny has significant Football League experience having made over 150 appearances for The Shots and he is a forward who Wimbledon attempted to sign last summer.

“Danny was a player who I was keen on in the summer and I sat down with him then, but we lost out because he wanted to play at a higher level. That has not worked out for him so far this season. We liked what we saw when we watched Danny last season and when he played against us for Bury.

“Danny fits the mould of player that we were aiming to bring in. Danny has good experience, he is hard-working and brings a lot of the attributes that we want from a centre-forward. He will be a big player for us during the rest of this season.”

Danny is sure to be a name well known to Dons supporters because the centre-forward signed for Aldershot as a 16-year-old when Terry Brown was manager at the Recreation Ground and he scored against Wimbledon during a loan spell at Bury earlier this season.

Subject to Football League clarification, Danny will go straight into the Wimbledon squad for tomorrow night’s match against Hartlepool United.
