David signs new deal

Promising winger signs on the dotted line

David Fitzpatrick has become the latest AFC Wimbledon prospect to commit his future to the club after he signed a new deal yesterday.

On the day that he made his third first-team appearance in the 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town, Fitzpatrick (pictured) extended his stay with Wimbledon after an encouraging first season with the Dons.

An interview with David Fitzpatrick on signing a new contract is now on Dons Player.

With Will Nightingale, Ryan Sweeney, Ben Harrison, George Oakley, Joe McDonnell and Tom Beere having all signed up for next season after making their first-team debuts, Wimbledon now have a crop of young players aiming to be a part of the club's future moving forward.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “David has signed a new deal and he is another one of our young players to commit for next season. It is hard sometimes for lads when it does not work out for them at one club and they get picked up by another. They need to understand what is required at a new club and we have spent all season getting David to that point. He has taken it all on board and that is great. David is certainly a talent.

“We are delighted with all our young players. If I am thinking big for next season and aiming for promotion we need to try and raise the bar with the signings we make, but we also need to raise the bar with the quality we have underneath. We have to make the young players here even better.”

Exciting winger Fitzpatrick, who attended the same Richard Challoner School in New Malden as Will Nightingale, joined the Dons last summer after leaving QPR.
