Dons Ladies complete major signing

AFC Wimbledon Ladies manager Chris Lyons has completed “a massive coup” for the club by snapping-up experienced centre-back Sian Houghton-North from Aldershot Town.

Houghton-North (proudly holding up a Dons shirt above) is a player who Lyons has kept tabs on after initially missing out on her signature during the summer.

Lyons believes that bringing Houghton-North to the club is another vital piece in the jigsaw with AFC Wimbledon Ladies having made a promising start to the season after his summer rebuilding job.

“Sian was one of our summer targets so we are really happy to have finally landed her signature,” said Lyons. “Sian will add strength to our squad and will complement our existing players very well.

As well as being able to put her foot in, she has quality on the ball and is therefore exactly the type of player we want. “With Sian having been captain at Aldershot for many seasons, she is a born leader, and will add to the experience we’ve already got.

“Sian knows the levels we expect, and I know the type of character we are getting. We are really pleased that she has finally signed for AFC Wimbledon Ladies and I’m confident she will do a fantastic job for us.”

The Dons Ladies moved up to second spot in the London and South East Regional Women’s Premier Division on Sunday after an impressive 4-0 win against Bexhill United. Click on Dons Ladies if you missed our report earlier this week.
