Exciting film season for rock and roll fans

The club will be staging an event with a difference next Thursday when a new rock and roll film season is launched.

Fujiyama Mama’s Hot Rockin’ Club, which plays host to great rock and roll bands and DJs on the last Friday of every month, is branching out with screenings of classic 1950s films and a diner-style theme.

The movie season launches on Thursday, 2 October, with Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock, followed by American Graffiti on 16 October and Rock, Rock, Rock a week later. Rock and roll music will be played after the movies.

AFC Wimbledon Commercial Executive Jim Piddington said: "We have previously tried something similar to this when we showed classic film Quadrophenia, followed by a Who tribute band afterwards. I thought it would be a good idea to show classic rock and roll films and offer an excellent diner meal beforehand.

“What films does everyone love that they just don’t get a chance to see on a big screen? Jailhouse Rock was the first one on the list. All such great films are best viewed on a big screen and with a good sound system. I find the Rock and Roll scene so vibrant and interesting that just going out to see bands once or twice a week isn’t enough. I hope there are other people who think the same way.”

Meals must be pre-booked through   Admission for movie nights at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, AFC Wimbledon, is £5. For an extra £10, you can enjoy a diner-style meal, consisting of a burger or hot dog with fries or onion rings, followed by apple pie or brownie and ice cream.http://www.kingsmeadowlive.com/ .
