Erik on volunteers and help still needed tomorrow

Chief Executive Erik Samuelson this afternoon thanked the dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly to get tomorrow night’s Port Vale game on.

Over 60 volunteers, plus Mark Robinson’s Under-18s squad, helped shift the snow from the pitch today with even first-team manager Neal Ardley and captain Mat Mitchel-King chipping in this morning.

“It has been an absolutely fantastic effort,” said Erik. “I looked out earlier and we had a large number of volunteers working away on the pitch, plus the youth team players. With the manager and our captain also helping out, you cannot ask for any more than that.

“The pitch is now nearly clear. Though it is a bit soft in places, we have to be confident that we will be playing tomorrow night.”

AFC Wimbledon wishes to express its appreciation for all the hard work put in by volunteers. Work for today will be completed by 4.30 pm so volunteers who had offered to come along to the stadium later on will not be required.

However, we do need volunteers to help take the covers off the pitch tomorrow from 1.00 pm onwards. Anyone who can give up their spare time should contact us by e-mail. Click on  Volunteer help.
