Speaking ahead of his trip to Portugal for the Football League AGM later this week, Erik said: “It was a dramatic and exciting final day and we all ended up on a high as a result of that. But when you stop and think that we were 18 minutes away from going back to the Football Conference then it is important that we make sure that we learn lessons.
“I think that maybe the most substantial one is the importance of getting recruitment right. We have to make sure that we bring in the right players that fit into the right pattern of play. With that in mind, the first-team management put a lot more effort into looking for players from February onwards with a view to recruiting this summer. We have also put more money into next season’s playing budget so that we can continue that and to do our talent recruitment more effectively than in the past.”
