Striker reckons there is more to come
Ade Azeez says he is much more confident about producing the goods at League 2 level this season after his dramatic winner against Exeter City.
The 21-year-old striker netted seven goals during a promising first season with Wimbledon, but Ade knew there was plenty of room for improvement and he has worked hard on his game since.
Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Ade said: “At the back end of pre-season I suffered an injury that kept me out for two or three weeks and Tuesday (Under-21 match at Cambridge) was my first 90 minutes of the season. I was happy to get that and scoring two goals helped my confidence. I feel that I have come back this season a lot more confident. Mentally and physically I feel good.
“It was good to chat with the manager at the end of last season and find out where he felt I was at. In pre-season I worked my socks off and I feel that it is paying off now. Having all the older professionals around really helps. Their knowledge is useful for young members of the squad. Obviously, Bayo is a striker with a lot of experience so I reach out to him at times. He gives me advice and whether it’s good or bad he is always honest with me.”

Ade was particularly pleased to reward Wimbledon fans for their support with a first home win of 2015/16 after two previous defeats at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
“First and foremost, I am just happy that we got the victory and it’s always a bonus when you score,” he added. “We dug deep to earn the victory. Last season we were really strong at home so we wanted to get that form back and show the fans we can still do it. The fans were right behind us from the start and they were excellent.
“I think we can be strong at home again this season. Winning always boosts confidence and morale, but we have a great team spirit here. You could see that in the changing room afterwards as everyone was happy. We will come in for training on Monday and go again on Tuesday.”
