Supporter part of choir for final tradition

The Dons badge will be proudly displayed at tomorrow’s FA Cup Final when supporter Annette Dimond sings Abide With Me as part of a "Fans Choir"  before the match.

Annette will be AFC Wimbledon’s representative after winning a competition run by the BBC and the FA to put together a 64-strong choir, consisting of one supporter from each of the clubs that made the third round of this year’s competition.

Annette will today be rehearsing to perform the anthem traditionally sung before the Wembley showpiece, which will be contested between Arsenal and Aston Villa.

“I saw the competition advertised at the end of Match of the Day,” said Annette. “It asked for fans to fill in a form including 200 words on what the FA Cup means to you. No singing experience was required. The only real singing experience I have is on the terraces! Supporting Wimbledon has been a big part of my life and a lot of my family attend games regularly. I have not been able to go as much since my children were born, but I still go to away games when I can.

“I used to go to Plough Lane and I was at the FA Cup Final in 1988. I think I got carried away by our run to the FA Cup third round this year! I was so excited by us doing so well that I decided to enter when I saw the advert. There is not going to be much time for rehearsals as we are meeting up for the first time on Friday. I will be as prepared as I can be and have been going through the words. It is going to be great to be a part of such a big occasion.”

Annette will wear our club colours in front of millions of TV viewers around the world as part of the choir so look out for blue and yellow before the cup final!
