A look at another opponent as part of FL campaign
A new-look Dons side kick-off 2014/15 with a home match against Shrewsbury in 15 days and we’re counting down to the season by promoting the Football League’s “Wall of Colour” campaign.
We’re featuring all of Wimbledon’s opponents next season – in reverse order on the fixture list – in what promises to be another highly competitive League 2.
AFC Wimbledon will be encouraging fans to wear their scarves, shirts, rosettes, hats, and anything else in blue and yellow to help the Dons to victory against Shrewsbury. We are also planning to run an event on Saturday, 9 August, to fit in with the Football League’s aim to celebrate the new season at clubs all around the country.

It’s 19 years since the golden days for Tranmere when John Aldridge’s goals so nearly helped the men from Merseyside into the Premier League. In the early to mid-1990’s Rovers regularly made the play-offs, but they just failed to reach the top tier, which would have earned league derby matches with near neighbours Liverpool and Everton for the first time.
A steady decline since those halcyon days means that Rovers are now in the bottom division, despite a memorable 2012/13 campaign that saw them top League 1 for a considerably period. It’s all change now following relegation with Rob Edwards taking over the managerial reins this summer. The former Preston North End and Bristol City player, who is a former Welsh international, had a more than useful managerial apprenticeship as he was part of Paul Tisdale’s coaching team at Exeter City. Rob (right) is pictured above with Paul.
With long-serving former Jamaican international Ian Goodison having left Rovers at the age of 41, it’s very much a new era at Prenton Park. Jason Koumas, who played in the Premier League with West Brom, is back at the club where he made his name, and is now part of the coaching team. Bringing in Marcus Holness from Burton Albion should help as he knows all about scoring goals at League 2 level and Kayode Odejayi should also chip in after an impressive loan spell with Accrington Stanley.
