Semi-final defeat for our Walking Football team

AFC Wimbledon’s Walking Football team made it to the last four of the Football League’s Walking Football National Finals at St George’s Park, as they bowed out after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Blackpool in the semi-finals.

The Dons (pictured above), qualified as winners of the South East Regional Tournament and got their quest for glory on the big stage off to a perfect start by progressing from a group stage that also contained Derby County, Leeds United and Crewe Alexandra.

Blackpool advanced from the other group, which also featured Swindon Town, Plymouth Argyle, Norwich City and York City.

However, a deflected free-kick ended their hopes in the last four against Blackpool, having performed gallantly to reach this stage of the competition.

For the record Plymouth were the eventual tournament winners, taking the trophy back to Devon.

Our AFC Wimbledon Community Foundation stage Walking Football sessions every Wednesday night at Tooting & Mitcham United between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm.
