Players and coaches get ready for Wednesday's event
We still have places remaining for teams to take on Simon Bassey and the boys at our AFC Wimbledon Golf event this Wednesday.
Terry Brown and Stuart Cash, several first-teamers, along with Wimbledon favourites Dickie Guy and Ian Cooke will also be gearing up for a friendly battle on the fairways at Malden Golf Club.
The competition is open to teams of four, but there is also the opportunity to enter as a team of three and one of our AFC Wimbledon footballers will make up the entry. In last year’s event, Seb Brown (pictured) pitched in for success by winning the Straightest Drive competition and there will also be a Longest Drive competition, along with the main prize of being crowned AFC Wimbledon Golf Champions for 2012.
Simon Bassey admits he is unlikely to be celebrating a victory on the 19th hole, but our current caretaker manager is really looking forward to the event.
“I will just be trying not to lose too many balls,” he admitted. “I have not played for a year so do not expect too much from me. Showing our support for the club and the event is great for us to do though and a lot of the lads will be playing.”
We are delighted that Wimbledon-based Apogee Corporation are once again sponsoring the event.
Competitors will enjoy coffee and bacon rolls, 18 holes of golf and a two-course buffet. The cost to enter is £360 for a team of three or four. To enquire, or to book your team in, please contact our Commercial Executive, Sam Grayson, on 07946476509. Or you can e-mail your entry by clicking on Dons golf competition. Please state if you are entering as a team of three or four.
