Smith makes good progress

An update from Neal Ardley

Neal Ardley today confirmed that Jack Smith is recuperating well from the injury that he suffered in last week’s Capital One Cup tie and he could be back in contention next week.

The left-back was stretchered off with a knee injury during the game at Milton Keynes, but the injury is not as bad as first feared. Though Smith is ruled out for tomorrow's trip to Southend and is unlikely to feature at home to Hartlepool on Saturday, he is progressing nicely.

Speaking to Rob Cornell during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley confirmed: “The games this week may be a little too early for Jack, but if we can get some training into him next week then he could be in line for selection after that.”

The Wimbledon manager also updated us on Andy Frampton’s recuperation from the broken ankle that he suffered during a pre-season training camp in Spain. Neal is hopeful that the experienced centre-back will be able to have a protective boot removed next week so that he can step-up his recovery work with physio Stuart Douglas.

Dons Player subscribers can now watch Neal Ardley’s full update on our premium channel and an interview with Dannie Bulman will follow later today.
