Luke signs new contract

AFC Wimbledon's longest-serving player commits to the club

We are delighted to confirm that Luke Moore will be staying at AFC Wimbledon after he signed a new contract at the club.

Luke, who is AFC Wimbledon’s longest serving player, has been rewarded for his excellent displays at the end of last season with a new deal, which he signed after returning from a summer holiday.

The 25-year-old, who was back in time for the start of pre-season training yesterday, is viewed by manager Neal Ardley as a key player for2013/14.

“We put together a team that managed to keep the club up last season and now we are trying to assemble a better team for next season,” Neal said. “I am confident that Luke will flourish during the next campaign if he can carry on where he left off last season. He was certainly a key player in helping us stay up. Luke’s versatility, energy and work ethic is what I expect from players in my team and hopefully he can be a major asset next season.”

Luke, who can play anywhere in midfield or up front, joined the Dons in June, 2009, after rising through the ranks at Ebbsfleet United, where he had helped the Kent club to FA Trophy success at Wembley a year earlier.

Of course, Luke’s goals helped the Dons to promotion into the Football League in 2011 and his excellent double in Wimbledon’s third to last game of 2012/13 earned a crucial point against Exeter City. His consistent performances last season also earned Luke the Players’ Player of the Year award after the all-important win against Fleetwood.

We also wish to clarify the situation regarding Kevin Sainte-Luce. The club has taken up the option on Kevin’s contract and the talented winger is therefore a contracted player at AFC Wimbledon.
