Luke on his fifth season

Long-serving forward looks ahead to Wycombe

believes that AFC Wimbledon can take plenty of encouragement from their start to the season with Wycombe Wanderers up next on Saturday.Luke Moore

The club’s longest serving player got his fifth season with Wimbledon up and running by notching a consolation at Millwall on Tuesday, but Luke hopes to build on that against Gareth Ainsworth’s men on Saturday.

“This club has moved on a lot since I came here and I am proud to have been at Wimbledon for so long,” Luke said. “It is my fifth season now, but there is a lot more work to do and hopefully I can have a good season. Millwall are a Championship club and to be disappointed to have lost to them is a good sign. We look very solid at the back and we definitely have to take the positives from what we have done so far.

“We just need to play better when we are in possession and look at how we can break teams down a little bit more. Everyone is going to make mistakes and that is a process when you are learning together. But no blame will be attached to anyone as we try to achieve something this season.”

Luke is under no illusions that Saturday’s first home match of the season will be tough against a Wycombe Wanderers side that started the campaign with a win against Morecambe and pushed Championship side Leicester all the way on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup.

“We have to go into every game believing that we can get a win and we can definitely take confidence from our performance (against Millwall),” added Luke. “But it will be a tough game against Wycombe and our manager has told us what they are going to be like when they come here on Saturday. We have to work hard on the training pitch and try and push on for the win. We will be ready for them come Saturday.”

Luke Moore was speaking during an interview for Dons Player and we will feature team news from the training ground on our premium site later this afternoon.
