AFC Wimbledon is encouraging supporters to get behind the Football League’s “Movember” launch to raise vital funds for charity.
We are asking supporters to grow a moustache during November in a fundraising effort for Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity partner of the Football League for 2012/13.
Each season, “Movember” raises awareness and millions of pounds for men’s health with Prostate Cancer UK being the prime beneficiary partner for the initiative in the UK.
With the support of its 72 clubs, The Football League and Prostate Cancer UK are aiming to raise both money and awareness of prostate cancer and promote a positive message for men’s health. One in nine men will develop prostate cancer at some stage in their life and every hour someone dies from the disease.
Fans of each of the 72 Football League clubs are being encouraged to sign up to play their part in their club’s own “Movember team” with a challenge to see which set of supporters can sign-up the most fans and raise the most money. Last season, fans from across professional football raised more than £50,000 and the challenge is on to smash that figure.
To get involved and join the AFC Wimbledon team, all supporters have to do is:
- Register your top lip by clicking on Movember Challenge
- Join the AFC Wimbledon team using the search bar on the site
- Ask your friends and family to take part and grow your squad
- Get growing your moustache from November 1
- Encourage your friends and family to support your efforts by donating money.
Female supporters are also encouraged to play their part by convincing male friends and family to take part (and by reassuring them that a moustache would really suit them).
