Dons v Cambridge preview

Neal Ardley has confirmed that Tom Beere is ruled out of tomorrow's match against Cambridge United.

Beere earlier this week had a toe operation and he could be out for a month, but winger Sean Rigg (pictured) will come back into the reckoning after serving a one-match suspension and new loan signing Jake Goodman will bolster Wimbledon’s defensive ranks with Andy Frampton (ankle) still out.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “Tom has just had a toe operation this week so he will probably be out for a month or so. Andy keeps trying to come back from an ankle injury, but he has some long-term issues that have occurred throughout his career. The other day he felt it again and he’s very down about it. He’s a warrior and we all feel for him.

“It’s great to have Sean Rigg back and George Francomb has rested up so we have various options to go on now. We have a run of games coming up when I will look at the best ways of attacking them. I always do my homework and watch the opposition so that I’m aware of their threats, but we also have to work out how we can break these sides down.”

One of the chief threats on Saturday is likely to be a player the Dons know all about as striker Kwesi Appiah impressed at Wimbledon during a loan spell last season.

“We know Kwesi well and they have threats all over the pitch,” added Neal. “They are big, strong and well organised. We will have to have a high energy about us and be good going forward otherwise we will not be able to open them up. We will need to do all the other things that League 2 demands, but we’re in good form at home and we want to try and keep that going.”

Neal Ardley’s six-minute team update for Dons Player appeared on our premium site yesterday, along with an interview with Frankie Sutherland.
