Neal expects warm reunion

Sammy Moore set to line-up versus Dons

Neal Ardley is expecting Sammy Moore to receive a warm reception from Wimbledon’s travelling support at Orient tomorrow – and he is delighted that his summer move has worked out well.

The former Dons midfielder could tomorrow be in opposition for the first time since leaving Wimbledon after a five-year stay that included helping the club into the Football League.

Sammy (pictured) has been a regular for sixth-placed Orient and helped Ian Hendon’s side to a 1-1 draw at leaders Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.

Speaking during an in-depth update for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “I knew that Sammy would not be happy here playing second fiddle at a club he had done so well for. I am delighted that he got that move and to see that he has gone on from it. I spoke to Sammy about a week ago, he rang me up and told me about his partner having a baby, and I was delighted for him.

“We had the serious stuff he had to go through at the end of last season and we were all there for him. I am sure he will be welcomed with big cheers from our fans on Saturday and he will get a cuddle from our players, but then we hope to get the upper hand.”

Sammy made 183 appearances for the Dons after joining from Dover in the summer of 2010. He made a vital contribution during the club’s promotion from the Conference, though he missed the play-off final at Manchester against Luton Town due to injury. Sammy was voted as player of the year by supporters at the end of Wimbledon's first season back in the Football League in 2011/12 - and his battling midfield performances helped consolidate the club in League 2.
