Neal: it will be tough

18 June 2014

Manager's reaction after 2014/15 fixtures announced

Neal Ardley said he is expecting League 2 to provide a tougher challenge than last season after the fixtures for 2014/15 were announced this morning.

The Dons will kick-off their campaign with a home match against Shrewsbury on Saturday, 9 August, and it will be a packed schedule during August as there’s also a Capital One Cup tie at Milton Keynes to fit in during the opening month.

Neal Ardley said: “Everyone wants to get off to a good start and that is when having a good pre-season comes into play. With a cup game in the fixtures for August we will be playing Saturday and Tuesday during the opening month so that will be tough. But we want to hit the ground running and have a really positive start to the season.

“I think it will be tougher than last season. We will need to step-up a lot on last season if we’re to have a season of progression. We’re under no illusions about that, but we are trying to put together a good squad for next season.”
