Wimbledon produced a spirited second-half response to battle back against the form team in League 2 and Neal reckoned that his side deserved everything they got for following his plan to the letter.

, Neal said: “It was a wonderful goal from Kevin Ellison, even though we could maybe pick holes with what happened in the build-up. But apart from that I cannot remember Morecambe opening us up and looking like scoring. When you are up against a team on a run of eight games undefeated I think you have to show them a little bit of respect. As the game wore on I was pleased that we stuck to our game plan. We had to stick with it and we got better and better because we had a real threat in the second-half.”Dons PlayerSpeaking to

“If you go away from home with two strikers it is brave even if you have two strikers in form,” he added. “But the last two games have shown that we have struggled to create chances and goals. We felt it would therefore be a big risk to come here today with two strikers so we decided to play with one up front. That gave us another body in midfield to try and take hold of that part of the pitch.

“I thought we did that and we did really well. It was hard once we went 1-0 down because then you think about chasing the game. But we stayed rigid and strong, thinking that our chance would come. It did and it was a good cross from George and a great finish from Michael. I thought we looked a threat and George was excellent today.”
