Plenty of options for Neal

Several players back in the frame for York City

Neal Ardley today confirmed that key players will strengthen his options for Saturday’s home match against York City.

Captain Alan Bennett (pictured) was rested for the match at Fleetwood, but he’s now back in contention. Aaron Morris (ankle) and Danny Hylton (elbow) both came off in the 0-0 draw at Highbury Stadium, but the pair were given the green light to return to full training this week, along with George Francomb, who has put a groin injury behind him.

Neal also expects Andy Frampton to be given the all-clear by physio Stuart Douglas tomorrow after suffering a twisted ankle during his comeback match against Cray last night and Peter Sweeney is also in the frame. However, Jim Fenlon, Kevin Sainte-Luce and Charlie Wyke are all unavailable for Saturday.

Speaking to Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “I am going to have selection problems for Saturday and that’s a nice thing to have. It’s positive to have these players knocking on the door and saying ‘any chance of getting a game?’ We know the quality that Peter Sweeney possesses, but he will tell you that he needed the game last night. His lungs were burning a bit, but he pushed himself through that fatigue in the last 20 minutes and that puts an edge on you. Though it’s a level up in terms of tempo at League 2 level, it’s given him enough of an edge for him to say that he’s ready for selection.

“Andy Frampton twisted his ankle a bit last night, but the positive aspect is that his shoulder felt great. He had looked great until he went over on his ankle, but we took him off as a precaution and put the ice on it. Stuart Douglas thinks that he will be alright tomorrow and we’ll see where it goes from here.”
