Neal Ardley says signing will excite supporters

Neal Ardley has made his first close season signing with left-midfielder Chris Arthur having signed on the dotted line this afternoon.

The 23-year-old, who started his career with QPR, spent last season with Havant & Waterlooville after previous spells with Northampton Town and Rotherham.

Speaking soon after concluding Wimbledon’s first summer deal, Neal Ardley said that Chris is an emerging talent who will offer excellent options on the left side of his team.

“We have watched Chris a lot during the last season and though he is not a high profile signing, I am sure that Wimbledon’s fans will be excited by his talents,” said Neal. “He has got unbelievable pace, a great left foot and he can also fill in at left-back. I think we can develop Chris and turn him into a very good player.

“We moved quickly for Chris because we wanted to sign him as soon as the season ended. He had a great season at Havant and we believe he will fit in well to the dynamics of our team.”

In his first interview for Dons Player after signing for Wimbledon, Chris Arthur told Rob Cornell that it did not take long for Neal Ardley to convince him to join.

“I am delighted to sign for a club with a lot of passion because it has great supporters and a good history,” he said. “I had a meeting with Neal at the training ground and he sold the club to me straight away with his ambitions. They matched my ambitions because of the players that Neal wants to bring in and the good football that he wants to play.”

Chris, who attended AFC Wimbledon’s FA Cup match at Milton Keynes in December, spoke in more detail about what joining Wimbledon means to him in an interview for Dons Player. We will bring you this interview as soon as we possibly can, along with the thoughts of Neal Ardley.
