Star duo return for gig

Celebrate Valentine's Night with Lover's Rock event

Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson will be making a welcome return to the club on 14 February after their sell-out gig at Kingsmeadow Live last year.

With Janet having earned an affectionate title as the “Queen of Lover’s Rock”, it’s an appropriate gig to capture the mood on Valentine’s Night and the £20 entry price includes entry to an after show party.

Janet rose to prominence as long ago as 1979 when a hit single “Silly Games” made her the first British black female reggae artist to top the UK British pop charts. It’s been a long career in music since and Janet earned fame abroad in 1991 with her version of Minnie Ripperton’s “Loving You” paving the way to Sony Music Japan signing her up to record six albums over 12 years.

In recent years, Janet’s musical partnership with Carroll Thompson has earned rave reviews. Carroll topped the reggae charts twice in the early 1980s and earned Best Female Performer at the GLR Reggae awards and Best Song for “Hopelessly in Love”.
