Steven makes Dons return

13 September 2012

Midfielder back at Wimbledon

We are delighted to announce that Steven Gregory has returned to Wimbledon on a three-month loan deal from AFC Bournemouth.

Steven today completed his first training session back with the Dons and he will go straight into our squad for the home match against Rochdale on Saturday. Manager Terry Brown said that the 25-year-old midfielder will bring crucial experience to the midfield engine room with Steven having played 32 times at League 1 Bournemouth last season. However, his opportunities have been limited this season and Steven said that he rejected moves to other clubs once he knew of Wimbledon’s interest in bringing him back. Steven, of course, helped us to promotion to the Football League before departing to Bournemouth in the summer of 2011 and his last game for AFC Wimbledon was the play-off final against Luton Town.

On re-signing for Wimbledon, Steven (pictured in the middle of photograph above), said: “I have known that I would be going out on loan for the last few weeks and there were a few clubs I had been speaking to, none of which were Wimbledon. I was about to sign for another club earlier in the week, but then Simon Bassey rang me up on Monday and said do not sign for anyone because we want you here. As soon as I heard that I wanted it to happen and I am glad to be back here.”

See the official website later for more reaction on Steven’s return and Dons Player for a full video interview.
