Club wishes striker well after he suffers a broken leg

And Simon believes it is important that Wimbledon’s striker keeps his spirits up at such a difficult time.

“Straight away after his operation yesterday I spoke to Charlie and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for a speedy recovery,” said our first-team coach. “He will come back under our care now and we will give him the best chance of getting back as quickly as possible. It is sad news for him because the loan spell would have been great for him to keep his game-time up.

It is a shame for the boy because he is a smashing lad. I suffered bad injuries during my playing days and it can be frustrating in the early stages when you cannot move around and are relying on other people. But once you get back running it can seem really quick. I am sure the boys will arrange to go and see Charlie at some stage.” “I am sure he would have contributed this season like he did at the end of the last campaign. Charlie was excellent for us at times last season when he came off the bench.

Charlie will be assisted in his recuperation by Stuart Douglas, who said it would be wrong to predict a timeframe for his return.

Wimbledon fans sent Charlie messages of support on Twitter and everyone at the club wishes Charlie well in his recuperation.
