Tom Beere fully recovered but Andy Frampton out
The Dons have decided not to rush Andy Frampton back for tomorrow night’s clash against Burton Albion and he will instead play in a behind closed doors match.
During an interview for Dons Player, Simon Bassey said there are no fresh injury concerns after the defeat at Accrington with Tom Beere (pictured) having recovered from the leg injury that caused him to hobble off on Saturday.
However, Frampton will not be risked, according to Simon Bassey.
“There is a behind closed doors match tomorrow and Andy may get 90 minutes in that,” confirmed Simon. “We’ve looked at Andy after his last game and he needs to recover with the type of injury that he had. He has not done a lot of training so we feel it would be beneficial for him to get some more training under his belt and more games. Tom got a kick on the lower leg on Saturday, but he will be fine.”
Harry Pell will serve the final match of his three game ban for receiving a red card in the JPT win against Southend United.
Wimbledon’s first-team coach is under no illusions that it will be a difficult task against League 2 leaders Burton, but he says the Dons must go into it with a positive approach.
“It’s always nice to play against top of the league at home under the lights,” added Simon. “We played Chesterfield in midweek at home last season when they were top and we gave a good account of ourselves. We know exactly what to expect from Gary Rowett’s teams and he has done a fantastic job, but we will look to impose our strengths on them.
“We have to rise to every occasion and not just when we play against top of the table on a Tuesday night. We need to pick points up. I thought that Saturday was a typical away performance from us and it was probably going to be 0-0, but one little moment cost us. We had the better chances and we were disappointed afterwards, but you take the positives out of each game and move onto the next. They are top of the table and are there to be shot at and in that respect it’s a good game for us. We’ve got to start kicking on by winning games at home.”
