Defender's departure is confirmed

We can today confirm that left-back Warren Cummings has left AFC Wimbledon to pursue other opportunities elsewhere.

Manager Neal Ardley praised the 32-year-old for showing a professional attitude during his stay, but he said that Warren’s departure was best for both parties because his opportunities would have been limited during 2013/14.

“All the players and staff thoroughly enjoyed working with Warren,” said Neal. “I know he did have a slow start to last season, but when he did play for me he put in some good performances and he was fantastic around the dressing room. That is not always the case when players are out of the team.

“At this stage, with the new signings made we just felt that it was probably best for both parties for Warren to go elsewhere. All the players and staff will certainly miss Warren around the training ground and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Warren made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in all competitions during 2012/13 for the club.

AFC Wimbledon wishes to thank Warren for his efforts and we wish the player every success in his future career.
