Football festival on Sunday week

Five home-grown talents have made first-team debuts this season and you can show your support for the next crop of youngsters aiming to follow in their footsteps on Sunday, 10 May.

The Cherry Red Records Stadium will be hosting a “showcase for the academy” with AFC Wimbledon sides from the age of Under-9 to Under-16 taking on teams from Brentford.

Ryan Sweeney, Will Nightingale, Ben Harrison, Tom Beere and George Oakley have all featured in similar end of season football festivals in the past and it offers a great opportunity to watch potential first-teamers of the future.

The picture above shows George Marchant, Antonio Walker, Paul Kalambayi and Anthony Hartigan (second from left to third from right) after they signed scholarships and they are among the bright prospects aiming to develop further at AFC Wimbledon.

Academy Manager Jeremy Sauer (far left in above picture) said: “There have been five debuts for home-grown talents this season and all those boys played in games like these in the past. Supporters are welcome to come down and watch potential future first teamers in some great games against our friends from Brentford.”

The bar and a food kiosk will be open at the Cherry Red Records Stadium for the event and entry is FREE for all spectators.
