Wilson earns extended stay

Cardiff agree to extend loan deal

Goalkeeper Ben Wilson will have an opportunity to maintain an impressive record at AFC Wimbledon after the Dons extended his loan stay until 3 January 2016.

Parent club Cardiff City have allowed the 23-year-old to stay until the New Year and manager Neal Ardley thanked his old club for their cooperation.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “It was an obvious one to do with Ben. Cardiff have been great and let him stay until January. James Shea is back doing the first part of his work, but he has not really got going with the goalkeeping stuff. He may need an Under-21 game to shake the rustiness off. It will probably be another two or three weeks before he is knocking on the door asking for his place back and we will have a little bit of competition with Joe McDonnell as well.”

Since joining on 20 October, Wilson has yet to be on the losing side in four League 2 games for AFC Wimbledon.

An interview with Ben Wilson will feature in Saturday’s match day programme against Wycombe Wanderers.

Neal Ardley’s full update ahead of Saturday’s game against Wycombe is now on Dons Player.
