On-loan defender aims to end on a high
Yado Mambo has revealed that he would jump at the chance of a quick AFC Wimbledon return in January.
The centre-back, who is due to return to Charlton Athletic after tomorrow’s scheduled home match against Oxford United, has impressed during a three-month loan spell with the Dons.
And speaking to Rob Cornell on Dons Player, Yado said: “I have really enjoyed it because they are a good bunch of lads here, the gaffer is good and it is a great club. I have to look at my options as well, but if there was a chance to return to the Dons then I would be here very quickly.
“It feels like I have been here for a long time now. It has been a very good loan spell for me.”
Ironically, Yado’s loan spell will end with a game against Oxford United, the club who he made his Wimbledon debut against in a 3-2 defeat at the Kassam Stadium on 1 October.
The 21-year-old hopes to end on a high against Chris Wilder’s in-form side and he feels it is only a matter of time before Neal Ardley’s men turn the corner and start climbing the table.
“We are not getting the best of luck at the moment,” he added. “We have not been able to get the win that would lift us, but the spirit is still there and we have been playing well. If we can get that victory, then it could be a platform for the rest of the season. We should not really be down there as the results have not matched the performances that we have put in.”
