Development match at Merstham tomorrow night
Under-18s captain Billy Frost will be handed a chance to step-up to a higher level in tomorrow night’s development match against Gillingham.
The Dons host Gills tomorrow night (7.00 pm kick-off) at Merstham in the Final Third Development League and coach Alan Reeves will field a young squad. Midfielder Frost will be among several Under-18s involved with Kevin Sainte-Luce and George Oakley (pictured) offering first-team experience on the night.
AFC Wimbledon’s development side currently top Group A South in the Final Third Development League Cup, but they have played just three games in the league so far this season.
Alan Reeves said: “We’ve just rearranged the Bournemouth home game for 30 December at the training ground and we will be playing nearly every week after that. I’m going to need the Under-18s to step-up and show what they can do because we have a lot of games. It’s a great opportunity for the young lads and we will find out if they are capable of stepping up.”
Trialist Jamal Branker, who scored the winner in last Monday’s 1-0 win against Luton, will get another chance to impress.
Entrance for everyone at tomorrow night’s game will be £5.
