Return of the Minithon event

We are pleased to announce that the AFC Wimbledon Minithon event will return on Sunday, 30 September.

The 5km event, staged at Morden Park, aims to keep the Olympic spirit alive after the exploits of Team GB at London 2012. To fit in with the Olympic ideals, we will be promoting sport for all with people of all ages and abilities welcome to participate. Just like our first staging of the AFC Wimbledon Minithon two years ago, entrants can walk, stroll or run and babies in buggies can even take part with their families. The fun gets underway at 11.00 am near the bandstand in the park.

Our AFC Wimbledon team are busy shaping up for the event with Haydon the Womble leading the charge, though he will be stopping to meet his younger followers along the way. Dons boss Terry Brown, club physio Mike Rayner and chief executive, Erik Samuelson, will be among those competing. It will hopefully be a big charity event for the club with funds raised this year donated to St Raphael’s Hospice, Born Too Soon (Prem Baby Unit), along with ground safety improvements at AFC Wimbledon.
