Gold medalist Sophie to attend Dagenham match
AFC Wimbledon are delighted to announce that Olympic gold medal winner Sophie Hosking will be our special guest for the Dagenham & Redbridge match.
Sophie, who earned Olympic 2012 glory after teaming up with Katherine Copeland in the Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls rowing final, will be back at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday, September 1.
Gold medalist Sophie, who is an AFC Wimbledon supporter and even painted her fingernails blue and yellow in the final at Eton Dorney, will be treated to our matchday carvery. Sophie will then be presented to the crowd at 2.45pm, before watching us take on the Daggers as the club’s guest of honour. Supporters will have another chance to see Sophie, along with her gold medal, when she takes part in our man of the match celebrations (5.30pm approximately).
Sophie, a former pupil at Kingston Grammar School, played for Wimbledon Ladies FC when she was a teenager.
